Historique :	Sans doute l'oeuvre du sculpteur-mouleur Paul Franceschi (1826-1894) en collaboration avec le sculpteur bisontin Joseph-Salomon Piguet (1810-1873). Si le groupe en plâtre conservé dans la mairie du village et qui a servi pour le moulage des deux statues de fonte, est inscrit à l'inventaire supplémentaire des monuments historiques, le monument Pétremand lui-même, sur la place publique, ne peut bénéficier d'une protection monuments historiques qu'au titre des immeubles.(Langrognet, 2014)
